Registration is Now Open for 2018 Season!

The 2018 Indoor Track Season will begin very soon, and registration is now open for Breen Track Club! Here are some details to know for those that may be interested in joining the club.

Breen Track Club practices one day per week with optional meets on the weekend. We have recently reserved a field at Ultimate Soccer in Pontiac, and have scheduled our first practice Tuesday, December 19 . High school athletes will practice from 3:30-5:00pm, and middle school athletes will practice from 4:00-5:00. Members are strongly encouraged to run on their own on non-practice days, and should follow conditioning guides given to them by their respective high school coaches. We will offer training ideas upon request, but want to respect the respective programs being represented in the club. Meets are held around southeast Michigan where indoor tracks are available, including University of Michigan and Saginaw Valley State University among others locations.

Payment of $100 covers the indoor season and will be due at the first practice. Athletes will also be responsible for entrance fees if they choose to participate in weekly meets. For athletes that choose to compete, a new club singlet will be given to the athlete at no additional charge. A thank you goes out to Hanson’s Running Shop for the donation of the racing singlets.

Breen coaches are looking forward to a fun, fast season!

It would be an understatement to say Breen had a successful weekend at Michigan Indoor Track State Meet at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids on February 25-26. We sent 17 relays that included 38 athletes. 7 relays and 8 individuals came back with medals.
Breen dominated the girls 4x800m with two teams in the top 8. The team of Megan Worrel, Hannah Palomino, Elizabeth Dalrymple, and Mallory Ferguson won the event and broke the meet record with a time of 9:13.75. These ladies will travel to New York in March to compete in the New Balance Nationals. They are currently ranked #2 nationally! (

The team of Emily Ferguson, Katherine Forsyth, Grace Cutler and 8th grader Mattie Drennan took 3rd with a time of 9:42.33. Mattie is the club’s first 8th grader to medal at state meet. The future is bright!

The boys 4×800 team of Islam Aly, Brandon Davis, Patrick Fegan and Tim Dalrymple also took all state honors, finishing 7th with a time of 8:22.74
Breen Track Club was also impressive in the girls 4000m Distance Medley Relay. We had several individual all state performances and many personal bests as well.

The club dominated the girls 800m with four girls in the top 8 including the event winner Megan Worrel with a time of 2:16.99. Team mates Katie Forsyth, Elizabeth Dalrymple, and Hannah Palomino took 5th, 6th and 8th respectively.  Megan, Hannah and Elizabeth have qualified for New Balance Nationals in the 800.
