img_0813On November 13th, 27 Breen runners made their way to the Laverne Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana to compete in the Nike Midwest Region Cross Country Invitational. The 18 boys and 9 girls enjoyed perfect running weather at the course designed especially for cross country racing.

For the girls, Megan Worrel placed first in her heat and second overall with a time of 18:53.5. Also finishing in the top 50 out of a field of 580 runners were Hannah Palomino (19:11.3 – 12th), Katie Scoles  (19:23 – 24th), and Meghan Monaghan (19:42.4 – 48th).

The boys competed in a crowd of over 1000 participants divided into two heats. They were led by Brandon Davis (16:49.9 – 83rd), Andrew Dingwall (17:05.2 – 137th) and Islam Aly (17:07.2 – 144th)

All 27 participants got to see national level competitors in the championship races. Top 2 team finishers and top 5 individual finishers in the regional championship races move on the Nike Cross Country Nationals in Eugene, Oregon on December 3rd.

This will bring us to an official end to the cross-country season, and the beginning of the indoor track season! Registration for BTC will begin next Friday, November 25!
